Greer Wins All-Around

Abby Greer, a competitive gymnast for Emerald City Artistic Sports in Dublin, GA, recently attended the 2013 Smokey Mountain Vacation Gymnastics Classic in Sevierville, TN.

She competed on Vault, Floor Exercise, Uneven Bars, and Balance Beam and placed first in the All-Around competition. Abby is currently a 2X State Champion and State Runner-Up and has represented the Georgia State team three years in a row. Dublin-441 Speedway Opens Season This Weekend

 

Stock car drivers and fans alike will gather this Friday and Saturday night at Dublin-441 Speedway  to show support of a fellow driver Tracy Mimbs, who is receiving treatment for a medical condition.

Tracy, since retiring in 2009, is Crew Chief on his nephew's Tyler new late model racer.

Officials are expecting 100-125 drivers with standing room only for spectators, in support of Tracy.

Thus begins the 2013 racing season at the 3/8 mile-high banked clay oval that has added several new improvements including a 2500-seat high rise bleacher section, a high rise section in the pits, tail gate parking outside of turn 2, with division titles available in all Late Model, Super Street, Pure Stock, Bomber, and 440's.

Friday night will be a practice night for all divisions, with race fans riding along with drivers, if they so desire,  proceeds going to Tracy.

Former Dublin High School standout D'Meco Rozier was named  GCAA player of the year.

The GCAA Men’s and Women's DIII Basketball coaches selected their All-Region team, along with selecting the Player of the Year and Coach of the Year  for the 2012-2013 season and former Dublin high school standout, D’Meco Rozier was named Player of the Year. 

Rozier was also named First Team All-Region averaging 14.5 points, 2.0 Rebounds, 3.1 Assists, and shot 41.2% from the field and 33.6% from behind the 3 point line. 

D’Meco was in the top 10 in at least three offensive categories this season, while leading the Middle GA Tech Titans to a 17-12 season (6-2 in conference). 

The Titans will host this year’s GCAA Tournament in Warner Robins at the Titan Gymnasium.  

MGSC Splits with Georgia Perimeter

MGSC Splits with Georgia Perimeter

Middle Georiga State College split a home doubleheader with Georgia Perimeter with the women losing 56-41 and the men prevailing 60-52.  Cortez Riley led with 14 points. 

Cochran's Joey Harris had eight points, seven rebounds, two assists and three steals.

The homestand continues Wednesday versus Central Georgia Technical College. Game times are 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.

Bleckley Teen Wins Elks Free Throw Shooting Contest

Jordan Williams of Cochran claimed the district championship in Saturday's Elks National Hoop Shoot Free Throw Shooting contest held Saturday in Dublin.  It's the third district title for Williams. 

She represented Bleckley County and was sponsored by the Elks Lodge of Camden County, GA. 

Williams  played in the 12-13 year old division.  She moves on to region competition February 2 in Douglas.  Jordan is the daughter of Jay Williams and Pamela Williams.
