Meeks Named OFTC’s 2014 Rick Perkins Winner

Oconee Fall Line Technical College named English Instructor Kim Meeks as the local college winner of the Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Instruction, a statewide program initiated by the Technical College System of Georgia to honor outstanding instructors at the System's 25 member institutions.

The announcement was made Tuesday, February 11th at a gathering honoring the Rick Perkins nominees.

Other finalists for the title included Dr. Tiffany Daniel, Division Chair of Arts & Sciences / Learning Support; Mr. Jeff Partridge, Welding Instructor; Mr. Jack Shepherd, Pharmacy Technology Instructor; Ms. Leslie Thigpen, Division Chair, Allied Health Sciences, Practical Nursing; and Ms. Deb Thomsen, Practical Nursing Instructor.

Dublin's Flanders honored

Georgia College freshman Faith Flanders from Dublin, Georgia was named the Peach Belt Conference Softball AstroTurf Freshman of the Week for her performance in helping the softball team to a 2-0 record this past week with a pair of wins over Tusculum College. This marks the second time this month she has been named PBC Freshman of the Week.

Middle Georgia State College campuses to delay opening Wednesday

Middle Georgia State College campuses to delay opening Wednesday

Middle Georgia State College announced that due to freezing percipitation in some parts of the area Wednesday morning, all campuses will be closed until noon. 

Normal schedules will take place Tuesday evening. 

Faculty, saff, and students should not report until noon.  A release states that the weather will be monitored and that if no other announcements are made, classes and normal operations will resume at noon.

100% Pass Rate for OFTC Nursing Grads

Dublin, GA - Congratulations to Oconee Fall Line Technical College’s (OFTC) South Campus Practical Nursing Class of December 2013. The graduating class had a 100% pass rate on their state board examinations to become Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN).

Graduates of this class are Gary Dupree (Baldwin County), Sherry Kirkland (Telfair County), Katherine Pittman (Telfair County), Dora Pope (Laurens County), and Ginger Selph (Wheeler County).

“We are so very proud of our graduates who have excelled in the health care field, become LPN’s, and are performing with the knowledge they have gained in their education at OFTC,” said OFTC Practical Nursing Instructor Deb Thomsen. "Through hard work and dedication, these students became the competent, compassionate nurses that we knew they could be."

Wednesday, 2/12/14: College CLOSED

Thursday, 2/13/14: College re-opens at normal operating/academic schedule, unless otherwise posted/notified.
