Elton Awarded GLPNA Instructor of the Year | Schools
Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) Practical Nursing Instructor Karla Elton has been selected as the GLPNA (Georgia Licensed Practical Nursing Association) Instructor of the Year. The selection was announced at the 30th Annual GLPNA Convention on October 31, 2012 in Macon, Georgia.
“As a fairly new practical nursing instructor, Karla brings energy and creativity to her students,” said Tammy Bayto, OFTC’s Dean of Allied Health and Professional Services. “She is a positive role model for the Practical Nursing students, as well as, all OFTC students she encounters.”
OFTC Practical Nursing student Ashley Buckner received a “Runner Up” award for GLPNA Student of the Year. Ashley is a resident of Cadwell.
“Ashley has always aspired to become a nurse” said Ashley’s husband Mitch Buckner. “She has a passion and love for taking care of others. At home, you can see her enthusiasm when talking about what she has learned in the classroom, lab, and clinical sites.”
“Ashley is a very bright, conscientious student,” commented Karla Elton. “As one of her instructors, it has been a joy to see her emerge to a leadership position in every facet of her Practical Nursing education from the classroom to the clinical site. Her classmates look to her for guidance in the classroom and in the clinical setting. We often see her leading study groups as the teacher and quizzing her fellow classmates.”
OFTC’s faculty and staff congratulate Ashley Buckner and Karla Elton for their well-deserved awards.
