Get Ready for Lights on Literacy Night in Wilkinson County | Schools
Title (Max 100 Characters)
The month of September has been designated as Adult Education and Family Literacy month in Georgia, and activities around focusing on literacy and education can be found throughout area schools and the community.
Reading is an important skill for life as well as school. Oconee Fall Line Technical College, in partnership with the Wilkinson County Board of Commissioners, Wilkinson County Family Connection, and Wilkinson County Public Schools, is sponsoring a community wide "Lights on Literacy Night". Participation is easy. On September 20th, all families and Wilkinson County residents are asked to turn off their televisions, turn on their porch lights, and read for 30 minutes.
"Let’s light up our communities as we read together!" said Glenda Eady, Oconee Fall Line Technical College's Adult Education Instructor in Wilkinson County. For more information on this activity and community literacy programs in Wilkinson County, call OFTC's Wilkinson County Adult Education Center in McIntyre at 478-946-1080.
