Sen. Tolleson Comments on Dublin Plant Closure

Sen. Ross Tolleson (R-Perry) made the following statement today regarding the closure of the Case New Holland (CNH) plant in Dublin, according to the Senate Press Office:

“The closure of the CNH plant represents a great loss to our community.  CNH was an important local partner and greatly contributed to our local economy,” said Tolleson.  “The resulting job loss underscores the urgent need to improve Georgia’s economic competitiveness.  The manufacturing industry is crucial to Georgia’s economic health, and I am committed to working with my colleagues at the legislative level to create an environment that encourages job growth and retention.”

Public Hearing Scheduled for Proposed Washington Coal Plant

A public hearing on pollution levels for proposed Plant Washington coal-fired plant will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. at Ridge Road Elementary School.

Georgians for Smart Energy (GSE) will host an information session at 6 p.m.

At 7 p.m., the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) will conduct a public hearing about Plant Washington.

Proposed by Power4Georgians, LLC, the coal-fired power plant would be located near Sandersville in Central Ga.

The hearing subject is the water withdrawal permit and the water discharge permits (NPDES permit).

According to a news release, if Plant Washington is built, the water would be piped in 30 miles from the Oconee River and draw from 15 groundwater wells near the proposed plant site.
