A Dublin florist will bring 200 bouquets to nursing homes and living centers as part of the national campaign, "Make Someone Smile Week."

"Make Someone Smile Week is set for July 22-28, but the Dublin florist, Classic Florist & Home Decor has plans to deliver their arrangements on July 24.

Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) prides itself on celebrating the high level of academic achievement by its students. On May 29th and 30th, OFTC President Dr. Lloyd Horadan hosted two receptions for those students from all eleven counties in OFTC's service area making the presidents list for Spring 2012. This group of students was the first to be awarded this esteemed honor at OFTC.

Students enrolled in a degree, diploma or certificate program, took 12 credit hours or more, and maintained a 3.5 grade point average or higher are placed on the President's Scholar List.

He'll be at the McGrath Keen Senior Conference Center from 3:30 until 4:30 p.m.

In what appears to be tough economic times, there are those of us who believe that giving is still better than receiving. At Sweet Tree Healing Waters Church in McRae, GA, God has blessed us to be a blessing.

On Saturday, May 12, 2012, the Sweet Tree Family Center was opened and duly consecrated for service. Bishop L.T. Nichols, planter and pastor of God's Universal Kingdom Christian Churches, Inc. headquartered in Landover, MD along with many others drove down to help with the set up and grand opening. They brought with them  an abundance of clothing, shoes, household appliances, ministry tapes, cd's and books to give away to the public free of charge.

Brooks Wins Outlaws Super Street Series, Arlene Pittman Memorial Race

DUBLIN, GA.--With 103 race cars present, and the largest crowd of participants and fans of the season, Keith Brooks of Dublin, Ga. won the “Arlene Pittman Memorial / Southern Outlaws Super Street Series” stock car race at Dublin-441 Speedway Sat. night May 12th. 

Brooks made history at the track winning the first Southern Outlaws Series race in memory of Mrs. Pittman.  Jimmy Sharpe, Jr. of Soperton placed second, Tyler Brown of Hartwell, Ga. Was third, Sam Odom-Fort Valley, Ga.-fourth, while Kevin Durden placed in the top five.  

Other division winners were:  Late model:Hunter Peacock- Macon, Ga., Crate;  Robert Diekemper-Bloomingdale, Ga.  Pure Stock:  Jason Floyd-Cochran, Bomber: Robbie Bland-Dublin, road Warrior:Chris Channell. Regular races resume next Sat. night at the Speedway.

Saturday Marks Speedway's Fans Appreciation Night

 

Saturday night, May 5th is Fans Appreciation Night at Dublin-441 Speedway.

Track owner Justin McCorkel says,  "We  have a strong fan base every Saturday night, this is just one way of showing our appreciation with 500 gifts to be presented. Also, fans will see a large number of Super Street Drivers priming up for the Southern Outlaw Series next Saturday, (May 12) here at 441."

Races in all divisions begin at 8 p.m. Saturday night.
