MOTHER VERNENCY MORRIS

Funeral services for Mother Vernency Baum Morris, 80, will be held on Saturday, August 13 at 2 PM at Wabash Church of God. Interment will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery. Bishop Bobby Jones, Sr. will officiate. 

KATHERINE JOHNSON KILER

Funeral services for Mrs. Katherine Johnson Kiler "Sug", 97, will be held on Friday, August 12, at 11:00 AM in the C D Dudley Memorial Chapel at Dudley Funeral Home. Rev. James Sherman will officiate. Interment will follow in the Williams Chapel Mission Cemetery. 

Mrs. Katherine Kiler, who passed on August 8, was the daughter of the late John Henry Johnson and Mamie Carswell Johnson. She was born in Laurens County. 

She was a homemaker and loved to read the bible and sing. She was a member of Williams Chapel Baptist Church where she attended faithfully until her health declined. She was a member of the Senior Missionary Group. She was a resident at the Shamrock Nursing Home. Mrs. Kiler was preceded in death by three sisters, Josephine Baber, Esther Gibson and Bertha Lee Hunt; two brothers, Johnny Lee Johnson and Andrew Carswell. 

GERALDINE WHIRL

Funeral Services for Mrs. Geraldine Whirl will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Luke Baptist Church in Dexter.  Reverend Jamie Pittman will be officiating.  Interment will be held at Dudley Memorial Cemetery. 

Mrs. Whirl was born December 11, 1940, in Laurens County to the parents of Robert Smith and Mamie Walden Smith who had 4 daughters and 4 sons: Robert, Clifford, Iris, Lois, Geraldine, Norris, James, and Shirley. All grew up on farms in and around Rentz and Dublin; some then migrated northward.  Mrs. Whirl was a lifelong Laurens County resident. 

Mrs. Whirl was educated at Fleming Chapel School in Laurens County.   She later married to the late James Whirl.  Mrs. Whirl was retired from The Laurens County Board of Education as a District School Bus Driver, and from J.P. Stevens/Forstman Corp. as a skilled machinist. 

GLENDA ROBINSON PLUMMER

GLENDA ROBINSON PLUMMER

Funeral Services for Mrs. Glenda Robinson Plummer will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at 12 noon at the Holly Springs Baptist Church. Minister Willie Reed will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Glenda Robinson Plummer was born on January 11, 1960, and departed this life on July 29, 2011. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Lucion and Mrs. Queen Esther Robinson. Glenda was educated in the Laurens County Public School System, and graduated from East Laurens Comprehensive High School in 1978.

WILLIE CONEWAY

WILLIE CONEWAY

Funeral service for Mr. Willie Coneway, III, 34,  will be held on Monday, August 8, at 1 PM at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Brother James Jefferson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Laurens Memorial Garden Cemetery in East Dublin. 

Mr. Coneway, who passed on August 3, 2011, was born to the parentage of the late, Willie Coneway, Jr. and Wilhemina Coneway. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Coneway, Jr.; grandfather and grandmother, Willie Coneway, Sr. and Elnora Coneway; and by uncle, Ceasar Coneway. He attended East Laurens High School and went on to further his education at Heart of Georgia Technical College. 

He married the love of his life, Letishia Brown on October 23, 2010. They served God faithfully together in the Vidalia, Georgia, congregation.

Funeral services for Joe Lewis Farmer will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 11AM at the C. D.  Dudley Memorial Chapel at Dudley Funeral Home. Rev. Brian Ashley will be officiating.  Interment will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery.

Joe Lewis Farmer was born on February 1, 1936, in Gilmore, West Virginia. He was the son of the late Hazel and Cecil Farmer, Sr. "Jay" loved his large family.  He was preceded in death by his brothers, Sidney and Cecil Farmer and sisters, Katie Johnson, Trudy King, Julia Ann Loyd, and a step-daughter, Jocelyn Townsend.

ZORA WELLS-LEGGETT

Funeral services for Mrs. Zora Wells-Leggett will be held on Friday, August 5, at 11:00 AM at Holly Springs Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Holly Spring Church Cemetery. Reverend Joe Moore will officiate.

Mrs. Wells-Leggett was born April 25, 1952, to the late John Dunk and Julia Bell Wells. She was a faithful member of the Holly Spring Baptist Church where she served on the Usher's ministry, the Trustee's ministry and Sunday school for many years. She entered the peaceful arms of God on Friday, July 29, 2011.
