JOHN BURKE

Funeral service for Mr. John Burke will be held on Friday October 21, 2011, at 12 PM at C.D Dudley Memorial Chapel at the Dudley Funeral Home. Rev. Cole Morris will officiate. Interment will be held at the GA Veterans Cemetery in Milledgeville.

Mr. Burke enjoyed to go fishing and helping others within the community.

Mr. Burke was preceeded in death by his parents Mrs. Ruth and Mr. Arnold Burke; one sister Margaret Burke; two brothers Paul Burke and Bill Burke.

Mr. Burke is survived by his wife Mrs. Claudia Burke; one daughter, Mrs. Jodie (Tony) Gill; a brother-in-law, Mr. Stanley Coverton, Sr.; one sister-in-law, Ms. Ovetta Burke; nieces, Ruth Coverton, Sarah Coverton, and Grace Coverton; one brother-in-law, Stanley Coverton, Sr.; and a host of grandchildren and other relatives.

The family will receive friends at 205 Barfield Street in Dublin.

GEORGIA MAE GIBSON

GEORGIA MAE GIBSON

Funeral services for Mrs. Georgia Mae Gibson of Dublin will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at 1 PM at the First African Baptist Church in Dublin. Rev. Keith Anderson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery.  

Mrs. Gibson, who died on Thursday, October 13, 2011, was a native of Laurens County.  Her parents were the late Mr. Brailsford and Anna Troup. She was retired from the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center. She was a faithful member of the First African Baptist Church in Dublin.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Henry Gibson, her daughter, Thelma G. Sumblin, and her grandson, Brailsford Gibson.  

LOTTIE MAE TAYLOR

LOTTIE MAE TAYLOR

Funeral services for Mrs. Lottie Mae Taylor, 90, who passed on October 8, 2011 will be held on Saturday, October 15 at 1 PM at Springhill Baptist Church of Dublin. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Winfred McCloud will officiate. 

She was born in Laurens County, to the late Benjamin and Fronnie Coney. Mrs. Taylor was a faithful member of the Springhill Missionary Baptist Church where she joined at a very early age and worked with the Senior Missionary Society. 

She was the youngest of eight siblings who all preceded her in death and was the wife of the late Mr. Paul Taylor and to this union five children were born. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Effie Taylor Watkins and one son, Mr. Marvin Taylor. 

BOBBY BROWN

Funeral services for Mr. Bobby Brown, 63, will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at 11 AM at the C. D. Dudley Memorial Chapel at Dudley Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery. Rev Earnest Holmes will be officiating. 

Mr. Brown was born on August 3, 1948, to the late John and Sallie Mae Brown. He departed this life on October 7, 2011 at Serenity Hospice.  Bobby was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Oretta Brown. He was a member of the Howard Chapel United Methodist Church and served in the United States Army from 1971 to 1978. 

Jim Sanders

 

Funeral services For Mr. Jim F. Sanders, 98, of Cochran who died Tuesday, October 11, 2011 in the Carl Vinson V.A. Medical Center in Dublin will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday in the Chapel of Fisher Funeral Home with Elder Franklin Bryant and Rev. Ken Rodgers officiating. Burial will be in Dublin Memorial Gardens.

 

            Mr. Sanders was born in Bleckley County, the son of the late Robert L. Sanders and Cornella Rasberry Sanders. He was the widower of Drue Parham Sanders. He was a former employee of Georgia Department of Transportation and a farmer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during W.W. II. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Marvin Sanders and a daughter, Cletta Marie Holmes.

Funeral services for Mr. Edward L. Copenny will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at the Washington Street Presbyterian Church in Dublin. Rev. Dr. Ricky Porter will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery.

EARNESTINE SLAUGHTER

EARNESTINE SLAUGHTER

Funeral services for Ms. Earnestine "Wenny" Slaughter, 53, will be held on Saturday, October 1 at 11:00 AM at Greater Union Church Of God In Christ in Montrose. Bishop John Wayne Leggett will officiate. Interment will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Montrose.

Ms. Slaughter, who passed on September 25, was born in Laurens County, to the parentage of Emanuel and Nancy L. Slaughter. She was educated in the Millville Laurens County Public School System.  Ms. Slaughter was preceded in death by her mother, Nancy L. Slaughter; two brothers, Emanuel, Jr. and Edward Slaughter; two sisters, Eddie Mae Beard and Lizzie Mae Young.
