Dublin Mayor Talks New Manufacturing Jobs | News

A German auto-parts manufacturer plans to build a factory in Dublin, bringing 178 jobs with it.

Dublin Mayor Phil Best says he's excited to the construction started and expects the plant to open around the beginning of 2013.

Best says the Erdich Company manufactures brake pistons and metal stampings for companies like Mercedes Benz' Alabama plant, BMW's North Carolina plant, Volkswagen, Kia and more.

According to a news release from Gov. Nathan Deal's office, Erdrich Umformtechnik GmbH & Co.KG is "a midsized family-owned company that produces complex metal parts and sub assemblies for the automotive industry, and has been in the metal stamping business for more than 50 years."

The company has two plants in Germany, one in the Czech Republic and another in China that supplies parts to other automotive supplier companies as well to BMW, Mercedes and Volkswagen, Deal's office says.

Cal Wray, of the Dublin-Laurens County Development Authority said the company expects to break ground in May or June at the county industrial park off exit 49 on Interstate 16.

Wray said the plant will cost an estimated $39 million.

Deal's office says people can apply for jobs through the Georgia Department of Labor once the company is ready to take applications.
