Block Party Forum to Educate on HIV/AIDS

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc., Communities In Schools and The Dublin Housing Authority are hosting a community outreach forum to educate the community regarding HIV/AIDS on June 4, 2011 from 12 until 4 p.m. at Stubbs Park in Dublin, GA.

There will be speakers that will be addressing this increasingly alarming issue facing our teens by providing them with factual information to dispel myths surrounding HIV/AIDS and to address risky behaviors that increase the chance of contracting this disease.

Free food, entertainment and giveaways will be provided during the HIV/AIDS BLOCK PARTY FORUM.

Phone Bank for Disaster Relief Today on WMAZ

Today 13WMAZ joins the Red Cross to raise money for disaster relief after the tornadoes in the South.

During newscasts at Midday, a special one-hour newscast at 5 p.m. and again at 6 p.m., you will be able to call a phone bank in our studio, where Red Cross volunteers will be ready to take your pledges of support.

Blood Drive

A blood drive is scheduled for May 24.

This will be from 1-6 p.m. at the Dublin Mall.

Central Georgia Ranks Poorly in Health Report

 

Most Central Georgia counties need to improve their health habits, a national study says.

 

A study released Wednesday by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and the Robert Johnson Wood Foundation ranked every county in the nation on its health habits and its results.

 

Most counties in Central Georgia ranked below average among the state's 159 counties.

29th Annual St. Patrick's Century Bike Ride

The Dublin Rotary Club will host the 29th Annual St. Patrick's Century Bike Ride.

The event is scheduled for March 20 at 8 a.m. and will take place in the Dublin High School parking lot.

The cost for individuals to participate is $35 and $60 for families.
