Task force to make DFCS head report to governor

(WXIA) -- Gov. Nathan Deal's office is preparing an announcement on changes to organizational structure at the Division of Family and Children Services, sources tell 11Alive's Rebecca Lindstrom.

According to the sources, DFCS will be separate from DHS and the head of DFCS will report directly to the governor instead of the commissioner.

(Air Force Times) In his first public appearance as acting Veterans Affairs Secretary, Sloan Gibson said Thursday that the department will release results of a nationwide audit of its health facility scheduling practices next week.

A preliminary report detailing scheduling problems at 60 percent of VA hospitals and clinics found systemic issues and led to the resignation May 30 of VA Secretary Eric Shinseki.

Recently, the Department of Veterans Affairs has faced allegations that 40 people may have died at a V.A. center in Phoenix after being delayed care.

A veteran told WXIA in Atlanta that he has waited months for treatment at a facility in Cobb County.
