Kids Yule Love: Day 4 of 13 Days of Giving

Kids Yule Love is a non-profit organization founded in 1986 and its mission is to provide Christmas presents and a message of hope to the less fortunate children in the Middle Georgia area.

Kids Yule Love partners with businesses in the Middle Georgia area who either want to become a sponsor or a  Kids Yule Love drop point.  Kids Yule Love also serves people throughout the year with Baskets of Joy at Easter, Kids School Tools during the school year & the Smoke Detector Program.

OCMA Kidz Interact and Learn about Canine Development Program

OCMA Kidz Interact and Learn about Canine Development Program

Dublin VA Medical Center (VAMC) has partnered with Auburn University as part of a Detection Canine Development Program.

The canine training involves several phases. The Dublin VAMC is involved in the canines' socialization process.

Last week, the Oconee Community Mentoring Association mentees (OCMA Kidz) went to the Dublin VAMC for a controlled interaction with the puppies.

According to OCMA President and Youth Coordinator Chris Johnson, The OCMA Kidz learned about the Detection Canine Development Program and also learned about responsibilities involved in pet care.


Glenwood Parade to Take Place

The City of Glenwood's Annual Christmas Parade is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 11 a.m.

There are no entry fees. Register a float, car, truck, walkers, bands, horses and 4-wheelers with City Hall by calling 912-523-5223.

Today's 13 Days of Giving Spotlight: Project Giving

From December 1-13 we're highlighting a different local organization on 13WMAZ Eyewitness News.

Today, we're highlighting Project Giving, an all-volunteer, organization building "Bridges of Hope" for families who are suffering from chronic medical illnesses.

Pilot Club of Dublin Hosts Polar Express

On Dec. 3 and 4, and again on Dec. 10 and 11 at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The simulated train leaves at 15 minute intervals.

Pilot Club of Dublin’s main projects are to give bike helmets to all first graders in Laurens County, to install Life Line units for the elderly or those in need of a unit. Pilot Club of Dublin is also involved with Advocates for Alzheimer’s.

Church to Provide Thanksgiving Meal

The Holly Spring Baptist Church, will serve their Annual Harvest Day Meal on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010 from noon to 2 p.m. 

The meal consists of turkey, dressing, yams, string beans and all the trimmings. 

Donations of time, talents and treasures are accepted from the community.

The meal is served from two locations: Holly Spring Baptist Church located at 705 Buckeye Road in East Dublin, GA and Paula's Fried Chicken, located at 201 Martin Luther King, Jr.

Delivery is also available for people who are unable to pick up their meal by calling the church at 478-275-3603 or the restaurant at 478-272-9352.

'Angel Giving Tree' Adoptions Now Online

The Salvation Army and JCPenney have joined forces again this holiday season to give joy to even more children and seniors in need by offering an online option to Angel Giving Tree adoptions.

The annual Christmas gift drive provides clothing, special-needs gifts and other wish list items to kids and senior citizens experiencing financial hardship.

The Salvation Army expanded the 40-year-old Christmas tradition by partnering with JCPenney to make it easier for supporters to participate this holiday season.
