Dublin one of seven statewide affordable housing projects to receive funding

ATLANTA (AP) - A Georgia congressman says the state is receiving $2.8 million in affordable housing funding from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta.

In a statement, Democratic Rep. David Scott said the money will help create or rehabilitate seven affordable housing projects throughout the state.

Scott says the Waverly Terrace Senior Apartments in Columbus, the Middle Georgia Center in Dublin and the Bethel Housing Preservation project in Albany are among the seven developments that will benefit from the funding.

Task force to make DFCS head report to governor

(WXIA) -- Gov. Nathan Deal's office is preparing an announcement on changes to organizational structure at the Division of Family and Children Services, sources tell 11Alive's Rebecca Lindstrom.

According to the sources, DFCS will be separate from DHS and the head of DFCS will report directly to the governor instead of the commissioner.

Youth Sky Camp returning to MGSC

Sky Camp, a summer aviation camp for kids ages 10 to 14, is set for June 30 to July 2 at the Eastman Campus of Middle Georgia State College.

Activities will include exploring weather, history and physics as they relate to flight; aircraft maintenance, building and launching rockets and gliders; flying in an aircraft and more.
