Middle Georgia State College campuses to open at noon Thursday

Middle Georgia State College announced Wednesday afternoon that due to concerns over icy roads in the morning, all campuses would open at noon Thursday.  Classes scheduled before noon are cancelled.

Longtime MGC/MGSC basketball clock keeper honored Monday

Longtime MGC/MGSC basketball clock keeper honored Monday

Perle Peacock of Cochran who kept the clock at Middle Georgia College and Middle Georgia State College basketball games for over 47 years was recognized before Monday's men's home game versus Gordon College. 

It's estimated that Peacock began keeping the clock in the 1960s. 

Peacock's final game was March 5 of last year, an opening round win by the men in the GCAA playoffs.

Winter storm watch for Central Georgia

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for all of central Georgia beginning Tuesday morning until Wednesday afternoon.

A wintry mix is expected for central and southern parts of the state beginning Tuesday afternoon. Rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow are likely Tuesday evening until Wednesday morning.

Fire spreads through East Dublin neighborhood
Around 1 o'clock, the fire they had set up in a barrel to keep warm outside spread across the dry grass over 65 acres near Briarwood Drive in East Dublin.

Raven Chalker of East Dublin was all set for her quinceanera, a big celebration in Mexican culture for a girl's 15th birthday. The family had a big tent ready for more than 100 guests and were setting up Saturday afternoon.
