The 19th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade is set for Saturday, January 19 at noon.

The parade begins at noon on Martin Luther King Blvd. and ends on West Jackson Street in downtown Dublin.

Dublin Cancer Survivor Speaks at Relay for Life Event

While the NFL is in the second round of its post season, the Bleckley Relay For Life kicked off 2013 with a wrapup/kickoff celebration Thursday at the Tessie W. Norris Library Conference Room. Top teams, top online fundraisers, and top individuals were amongst some of the awards given out. Attendees also heard a passionate speech from guest speaker (and cancer survivor) Rick Bowman of Dublin.

Battle of the Bands on MGSC Campus

The MGSC Dublin Campus will be hosting the 17th Annual Battle of the Bands on March 14, 2013 at the Market on Madison in Dublin, GA. The first place grand prize is $750.00 and the second place prize is $500.00! All bands from any genre are encouraged to apply.

The deadline for applications is February 14.

The Dodge County Middle School Grappling Warriors will host the first annual Tomahawk Middle School Duals on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Dodge County High School Gym, 350 Pearl Bates Rd, Eastman, GA. The tournament starts at 9 a.m. and will host eight middle school wrestling teams from across Georgia.

Recycle Your Christmas Tree This Weekend

You have an opportunity to easily recycle your Christmas tree this weekend in a few locations in Dublin and Laurens County at "Bring One for the Chipper 2013"

Your tree will then be turned into mulch or used in as a wildlife habitat. In return, you'll receive a free tree seedling.

The event is open Saturday, January 5 from 10-2. Bring your tree to The Home Depot parking lot, Laurens County Collections Center, and Dudley Gym. Seedlings are only available at The Home Depot and Dudley Gym.
