Greer Wins All-Around

Abby Greer, a competitive gymnast for Emerald City Artistic Sports in Dublin, GA, recently attended the 2013 Smokey Mountain Vacation Gymnastics Classic in Sevierville, TN.

She competed on Vault, Floor Exercise, Uneven Bars, and Balance Beam and placed first in the All-Around competition. Abby is currently a 2X State Champion and State Runner-Up and has represented the Georgia State team three years in a row. Canceled: Saturday Speedway Race to Benefit Mimbs

UPDATE: The race has been canceled due to rain on the track. A news release says the benefit race will be scheduled for a later date.

A  record number of race car drivers and fans are expected this Sat. night Mar. 2nd at Dublin-441 Speedway for the Tracy Mimbs Benefit Race. Tracy is a second generation driver from East Dublin, Ga., retiring in 2009 to assist his nephew Tyler Mimbs with his racing team. Tracy's Father/Tyler's Grandfather Donnie Hugh Mimbs raced in the  first race at 441 in 1967.

Shamrock your Ride in downtown Dublin Friday so your vehicle is decked out for the St. Patrick's Festival Season. That's from 11-5:30 on March 1. 

Shamrocks are $5 and benefit the American Cancer Society.

The Dublin-Laurens Chamber holds a ribbon cutting and open house for the new building of Dublin Chevrolet, GMC and Buick.

That's Thursday March 7 at 4-6 p.m.

Scholarship Pageant First of St. Patrick's Festival Events

Miss St. Patrick's Scholarship Pageant sets the stage for the rest of the St. Patrick's Festival as the first event as part of the month long festival.

The pageant, sponsored by the Pilot Club of Dublin, starts at 7:30 p.m. at Theater Dublin on February 23. Tickets are $7 in advance and $8 at the door.

Six Bands to Compete in "Battle of the Bands" During St. Patrick's Festival

The Student Government Association of Middle Georgia State College’s Dublin Campus has chosen the contestants for the 17th annual Battle of the Bands competition. Bands will compete beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at the Market on Madison in Dublin. This event will be part of Dublin’s St.

Dublin Fire Department Receives Equipment from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation

Dublin Fire Department received new bunker gear and helmets Wednesday.

The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation donated the $19K worth of gear  to the Dublin Fire Department, according to a news release.

The new gear will "act as a personal protectant, improving the safety of the response team during life-threatening operations."

The foundation has donated $5.7 million to first responders and public safety organizations. More than $580K of that money has been donated in Georgia.
