Dublin Corn Maze Opens in October with Event Lineup

The Laurens County corn maze returns October 12 with an event lineup you may want to check out for this fall season.

This year, they're planning a Football Saturday Night, a Halloween Egg Hunt (complete with trick-or-treating and a costume contest) as well as a Pumpkin Destruction Day and a 5K Color Run.

Here's the special event schedule:

October 12 - Opening Day

October 19 - Football Saturday Night

Georgia Driver Wins Super Late Model at Swainsboro Raceway

Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga. won the 53 lap $5,300 to win Schaeffer's Oil National Super Late Model feature at Swainsboro Raceway Friday night July 19th. Ivedent Lloyd of Ocalla Fla, grabbed the lead on the green flag lap, led for 50 laps, then Davenport slipped past to make it two in a row, after winning at East Ala. Motor Speedway on Thursday night. Casey Roberts of Toccoa placed third, followed by Chris Madden of Gray Court, S. C., and Johnny Pursley of Knoxville, Tenn.

In the Zaxby's Crate feature Wendell Chavous of Augusta, Ga. emerged the winner, followed by Jeremy Faircloth, Steven Roberts, Brian Conner, and Rod Wiggins.

ULTIMATE Super Series to Debut at Dublin Motor Speedway

DUBLIN — The ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series will continue its record-setting third season Saturday, June 29, with event No. 9 on the 2013 schedule.

The Carnesville, Ga., based series will make its first ever trip to Dublin Motor Speedway for a $4,000 to win, 40-lap feature event.

Pollen Count 'High' in the Macon Area

Some mixed news for allergy sufferers:

While the tree pollen count is still high at 1420, that's down from last Wednesday's 3,600 count, according to Dr. Plaxico's Allergy and Asthma Clinic in Macon.

Weeds and grass pollen count is now in the moderate range. That count is up from last week when the weed pollen was absent and the grass count was observed as low.
