Central Georgia Parents Named to State Superintendent's Advisory Council | Education

Four Central Georgia parents have been selected for the State School Superintendent's Parent Advisory Council.
Dr. John Barge picked 36 parents from all over the state for the 2013-2014 school year's PAC, according to a release.
The following parents in Central Georgia were selected:
--Jimmie Griffin of Dooly County Schools
--Amy Haddock of Jones County Schools
--Jeneverlyn Tookes of Macon County Schools
--Virginia B. Wilcox of Monroe County Schools
and Debra Mainor of Dublin City Schools won one of six Georgia Parent Leadership awards, which earns her an honorary seat on the council.
The council meets with Barge three times a year and aims to increase parent engagement to ultimately "ensure student success," the release states.
"They'll give feedback on new policies, projects and materials that affect students and families.
Individual school districts nominated parents for the council and then members are chosen by a committee at the Georgia Department of Education.
