Wrightsville Man Accused of Robbing, Killing Officer

A Johnson County school resource officer was found shot to death on a road Friday night.

That's according to a news release from the Laurens County Sheriff's Office.

They identify the victim as 23-year-old Khristal Wright. She lived on James Grove Church Road, Wrightsville.

A Wrightsville man, 21-year-old Davoris Demez Hodges, was arrested early Sunday and charged with murder and armed robbery.

Todd Lowery, special agent in charge of the GBI's Eastman office, says there's no evidence that the death was connected to Wright's school duties.

He said investigators believe the two knew each other, but he declined to discuss the circumstances further.

A motorist called 911 around 9:45 p.m. Friday after finding the body in Lovett Scott Road, according to the Laurens County sheriff's office. They say they believe she died on the scene.

The case is being investigated by the Lauren's County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
