By: Major Jamie McDaniel, Twiggs County Sheriff's Office
On October 4th Investigator Robert Rodgers met with Laurens County Investigator Steve Howard to interview a suspect related to a theft in Twiggs County. After the interview the investigators were conversing over active cases they were working.
Inv. Howard advised Inv. Rodgers that Laurens County had a 2007 Honda 4 wheeler with a wench on the front stolen in the Dudley area the day before on Oct. 3rd. Inv. Rodgers advised he would be on the lookout and would past it on to patrol deputies in Twiggs County.
After leaving Laurens County and coming back Twiggs County Inv. Rodgers was in the Danville area when he noticed a male subject driving a green Honda 4 wheeler on 4th Street in Danville. Inv. Rodgers activated his blue lights and made a traffic stop on the 4 wheeler.
The driver was identified as 28 year old Roderick Jermane Jones of Danville.
Inv. Rodgers noticed that the 4 wheeler fit the description of the one stolen from Laurens County.
Jones stated that he borrowed the 4 wheeler from an unknown male in Allentown. When the VIN # was ran to see if it was stolen, it came back as stolen from Laurens County on the 3rd of October.
It was the 4 wheeler that was also stolen from the Dudley area. When Inv. Rodgers cuffed Mr. Jones he noticed a bag of what appeared to be powder cocaine on the ground in the area where Mr. Jones was standing. When tested the substance tested positive for cocaine.
Jones was arrested and booked into the Twiggs LEC and was charged with Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of Cocaine, and Driving while License Suspended or Revoked.
Jones is also on active parole with the Georgia Department of Corrections that stems from a prior drug conviction in Twiggs County. Mr. Jones is being held without bond and has a hold from parole.
