West Laurens High to Play in Sugar Bowl Halftime Show | Community Spirit
West Laurens High School marching band heads west to perform in the Sugar Bowl halftime show in the new year.
They were invited to perform in the Sugar Bowl halftime show along with other high school marching bands in the nation.
They left December 31 and return January 3.
Band booster vice president Deidra Bolyard credits the community's support in the band's fundraisers for their ability to go.
She says 130 students and about 50 parents will head to New Orleans for the trip. She said some of the trip highlights also include a Riverboat cruise and heading to the aquarium.
"it's going to be a once in a lifetime trip," Bolyard says.
