Oconee Fall Technical College received a gracious donation of a 13 SEER split heat pump system from Phillip Thomas, President of Dublin Winlectric Co., Inc., a locally owned full service whole distributor of electrical and HVAC products and supplies.
Mr. Thomas first contacted OFTC Air Conditioning Technology Instructor Kevin Livingston to see if the College would be interested in a donated 13 SEER split heat pump system that was returned and could not be resold.
“Because of a minor repair need, I couldn’t resell it,” said Mr. Thomas. “So, I donated it to OFTC’s Air Conditioning Technology program along with the new split part indoor unit with the blower. ”
“We know equipment like this can be very expensive,” said Livingston. “This donation expands the number and type of units for our students to practice installations, electrical hook up, brazing and piping, charging, checking for superheat for the correct refrigerant charge in the heat pump system, electrical wiring connections, proper operation, and more.”
“Our Fall Semester starts next week on August 27th, and I am excited for my students to begin working with this new unit,” continued Livingston. “I’m also excited for my students to see this great example of local businesses working with our College to help them learn the latest technologies so that they are well prepared after graduation for employment. We are very thankful for Mr. Thomas and Dublin Winlectric’s consideration of our College and our students.”
