City of Dublin: Who Knew? Are you? | Community Spirit
From the City of Dublin's blog:
Prepared that is. September is National Preparedness Month and since 2008 Georgia has made great strides in spreading the word and communicating what families need to do in case of a disaster. Ready Georgia (ready.ga.gov) was created under then Governor Sonny Perdue’s administration and with it comes a bevy of information, check lists, and interesting facts of disasters in our state and the nation.
Georgia is subject to several different kinds of disaster events. Who realized that in just over the last 50 years, Georgia has experiences over 1430 tornado reports? In 2012 alone, there were seventeen. Tornados often result in damage to land and property as well as human/animal injury and death. Most recently remembered in our area is the Mother’s Day storm of 2008 which caused two deaths and much destruction.
