A Day to Honor Veterans

Today, Central Georgians pause to honor America's veterans.

Here is a look at some of the local events.

Trinity Athlete Signs With Georgia Southern

A Central Georgia basketball player will bounce to the next level to continue her career.

In Dublin, Trinity Christian's Anna Claire Knight stood as family and friends took pictures. Knight signed a scholarship to attend Georgia Southern University.

The Eagles will get a player who has dropped in 2,249 in three seasons with the Crusaders.

My Teacher Is Tops

Some West Laurens Middle School sixth graders say their teacher keeps them on their A-game, no matter the subject.

That's why 12-year-old Jordan Blake nominated his teacher, Brandi Delacruz, for the My Teacher is Tops award.

"I'm just in shock!" Says Delacruz.

The students say they just got done taking a test, but that doesn't mean it's an easy rest of the day in Room 101.

"Tomorrow we're going to start a new chapter, and we'll probably have a little bit of homework," says Jordan Blake.

Delacruz says it's important that kids know their full potential.

"From the time they walk into my room until the time they leave, we work very hard the whole time," she says.

Her students say she makes working hard fun, but they know when to get down to business.

"She keeps us in line!" says student Wesley Harden.

Carl Vinson VA Medical Center to Host Veterans Day Program

The ceremony, scheduled for 11 a.m., will include keynote speaker Col. Paul Cordts, an honor guard from the Sons of the American Revolution, a flag-folding ceremony by the Dublin High School JROTC and the National Anthem, sung by the Knightingale Choir.

A memorial walk will conclude the ceremony at the Medical Center's front entrance flag pole with Echo Taps by East Lauren High School trumpets.

The Carl Vinson VA Medical Center is located at 1826 Veterans Blvd. Dublin, Ga.
